San Simón El Apóstol Simón, también llamado el Zelote, nació en Canaán y es uno de los doce Apóstoles de Jesucristo. Antes de unirse a Jesús perteneció al grupo de los zelotes, que luchaban contra Roma. Predicó en Egipto, Libia y en Persia. Murió mártir en la costa de Mar Negro cerca del Cáucaso, probablemente en el territorio de la actual Abjasia. La antigua tradición cuenta que a San Simón lo mataron aserrándolo por medio. La estatua fue realizada por el escultor Llorenç Matamala i Piñol.
St.Simon The Apostle Simon, also called the Zealot, was born in Canaan and is one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. Before joining Jesus he belonged to the group of Zealots, who fought against Rome. He preached in Egypt, Libya and Persia. He died as martyr in the coast of the Black Sea near the Caucasus, probably in the territory of modern Abkhazia. The old tradition says that St.Simon was killed sawn in half. The statue was performed by the sculptor Llorenç Matamala i Piñol. |
